The initiative, “Eranad – Ere Nalla Naadu,” aimed to raise awareness against drugs and narcotics among students. It was a collaborative effort involving Manjeri Vayapaari Vyavasaayi (Youth), a fraternity for young entrepreneurs, the Manjeri Police Station, and Shaji Kizhakathra’s Apostrofo. Apostrofo suggested a theme that positioned Eranad as ‘a too good place,’ implying that the etymology of the name signifies a positive environment.
The campaign focused on the idea that societal ills could be significantly reduced through mental restraint. Encouraging individuals to think, “I am from a good family, and I should not engage in such activities” or “My place is a harmonious and coexistent community; I should refrain from wrongdoing and not support such actions” played a crucial role in building a positive perception. This approach, especially directed at adolescent children susceptible to induced pleasures and relaxations, aimed to deter them from negative influences.
The event, held at a Higher Secondary School in Manjeri, was highly successful. Delegates from the association and police officers attended, and an awareness class was conducted for the students. The collective efforts of the organizers effectively conveyed the message of maintaining a wholesome and virtuous community.
